The Doug Ford government passed two bills, More Homes Build Faster Act and Helping Homebuyers Protecting Tenants Act, in 2022 and 2023 respectively, in an effort to tackle the housing crisis in Ontario. While these bills are said to build 1.5 million homes in the coming decade, they have the potential to adversely affect tenants due to the weakening of provincial law and dilution of existing rental-replacement bylaws protecting affordable housing.
